"Theodore Boone"-The Kid Lawyer

I was interested to see what John Grisham would do with kids - that too with a character of lawyer for kids. First I like the concept of "legal world" setting--that's something new for kids. The other side: Though the book is intended for young adults the plot is too simple for this age group, and the way he explains what a judge is and other simple terms of court feel that it is set for an audience of much lower level than for teens.Apart from this the main character "Theo" is too perfect to be accepted -The kid has no faults at all with straight A's, helping kids at school and a shelter. On top of it Grisham spends a long time setting up the story, and the central conflict isn't really introduced till the 100th page. The story would have been so much stronger if character had some sort of weakness and thus making the choices for him be a bit interesting. I think the series has a lot of potential, and I hope that future books do a better job of getting straight to the action now that so much groundwork has been laid.My verdict... this book is okay but not great.

Back at home..Nature at its Best!!

I was at Vizag last weekend..my home town. After many days I thought upon catching up with my friends from school.. Venue:"Beach road". I was very excited and was the first one to reach there (a mere 10 min walk from our residence).I couldn't stand waiting so I started ambling along the beach pathway with an eye on the road to be joined by my friends. With the eerie silence of the road- not many people were on the road, I could hear the rumbling of the sea, their azure waves and the sun's evening rays dancing and creating sparkles..lo behold.. It was truly Nature at its Best!!....what a spectacular view!..There was infinite stretch of sand and water till the distance my vision can capture,a heavenly abode.I was smiling ..and was moving onto the sands ..the waves rushed onto my feet making soft ripples and foam..I was in a different world altogether.I heard voices calling my name and turned. My friends have arrived..After a lot of chit chatting we started playing in the sand ..just like in good old times when we were kids.Time just flew by and it suddenly grew dark..the night setting in and the sky unfurling a sudden canopy of stars. Time for us to bade good byes and promising to meet again..we moved on. Back home I couldn't resist penning down these lines in my blog.

Books:My passion

From childhood,I had been happy to listen to my dad's narration of different stories and tales at bedtime.I hadn’t ventured to pick up a book and read it myself. But on my seventh b'day dad gifted me Enid blyton series a collection of stories around elves, pixies and goblins.I refused to read it. It seemed too hard. After much coaxing and dad refusing to tell me a story,I relented and agreed to read only two stories.I did and was hooked.Dad sat watching and he taught me how to read in my mind.Slowly I moved from the fairy world of Enid Blyton to Famous five to Nancy drew ..and then on there's no turning back.My hunger for books grew as I grew older, and I went quickly to authors like R K Narayan, James Herriot, Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christie, and PG Wodehouse before I turned 13. I loved reading different genres and appreciated the simple Malgudi as much as I grew to love the twinkle-eyed Miss Marple and Tom Sawyer..to the latest books..the list goes on to this very day..books have and had been my passion and a good old friend.Dad..who had opened up a world of treasures for me, a mentor who had taken pride in my growth.I was never alone..even when no one is around.
